Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on 25th January said, that the decision on continuing rural train services in Mumbai for all will be taken soon. Thackeray, in a meeting, looked into the prospects on resumption of local trains. A source from Chief Minister’s office said that he examined different options on how to continue local train services for all in such a way that would not get crowded as the coronavirus pandemic isn’t over, however.
Meeting with Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Chief Advisor to Chief Minister Ajoy Mehta, Upper Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Ashish Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge, Secretary Abasaheb Jarad, Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, Director of Disaster Management Abhay Yawalkar, General Manager of Central Railways Sanjeev Mittal, and General Manager of Western Railways Senior officers of health department along with Alok Kansal, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh were present at the meeting.
Mumbai locals were closed ever since the across the nation lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak in March 2020. Services were continued on June 15, as it were for essential services as distinguished by the Government of Maharashtra. As of now, differently-abled people, cancer patients, women, and lawyers are permitted to travel by train along with essential workers.
