Over the route of the remaining week, NaMo Tv has been the focus of the talk surrounding misuse (or abuse) of energy via the incumbent authorities. With the state scheduled to go to polls in much less than a week, it’s very important to determine the legal popularity of this channel, in order that appropriate action can be taken via any applicable authority. Appreciably, the Election Commission of India has issued notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, on the way to determine the felony repute of NaMo television. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has responded to Election Commission (EC) announcing that ‘NaMo television’, a channel run on all DTH structures with the top Minister’s picture as the emblem , is a “Special Service”  broadcast channel. It consequently calls for no licence or permission from the government Amusingly, one consultant invoked the BJP’s right to expression, while overtly admitting that he didn’t realize who the owners of NaMo tv had been.

Even Modi, in an interview with ABP TV, said, “I am told some people have launched a channel though I have not had time to see it myself.”

The statutory and definitional confusion about NaMo tv has risen simply because no person up to now has exploited this loophole in present broadcast law on any such big scale. The sources are kept uncovered from which the NaMo TV’s content is drawn from. NaMo TV is available with all major DTH operators in the country. On Airtel, it is stowed between India TV and NDTV India, on 316, in the series of Hindi news channels. It is also available on another channel number on Airtel — 110. On Tata Sky too, it is also listed in the Hindi News category.

The channel also shows Modi’s previous speeches in full and other party leaders seem once in a while to talk about the Prime Minister’s and the Government’s achievements. If the channel has no content to air they use ‘Main Bhi Chowkidaar’ and ‘Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai’ marketing campaign songs as fillers.

If a channel is launched for the promotion of a party or an individual candidate during the time of election then whether the expense will be bored from the party’s fund or not? On this, a debate is going on amongst the people. All eyes are on Chief Election Commissioner now.
