Mumbai: Dr. Swati Kale Garad, Adv. Vandana Dalvi and Prof. Dr. Pooja Raundale of Navi Mumbai – Panvel region were among the 10 Hirkani Sanman 2020 awardees declared by the Swarajya Toran Foundation, on the occasion of Navratri. The others are Adv. Ashwini Deshmukh Gaikwad of Vadodara, Gujarat, Bhakti Jadhav of Sholapur, API Archana Kate and Chaya Indulkar of Mumbai, Adv. Sapna Deshmukh and Dhanashri Mhaske of Pune and Adv. Jyoti Nirgude of Nasik.
The STF is a registered NGO run by a team of well-educated citizens and social workers in Maharashtra that include legal experts, doctors and engineers. Adv. Rajesh Tekale (Mumbai High Court), Dr. Kanchan Patil Vadagavkar, Adv. Uday Chavan and Dr. Amardeep Garad along with like-minded social workers work for the upliftment and empowerment of socially backward people in the State of Maharashtra. STF also works for the families of farmers who committed suicide and conduct counselling sessions among the farming community in the affected regions.
The award function was organized on Facebook page due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, wherein each awardee appeared live on the Facebook page and shared their thoughts on women empowerment during the 9-days of Navratri.
Adv. Ashwini Deshmukh Gaikwad is a popular social worker actively working for the welfare of sex workers and tribal women. Dr. Swati Kale Garad, a reputed gynecologist serves the poor people and made valuable contributions, as a COVID-19 warrior. Bhakti Jadhav, popularly known as Solapur Jalakanya was honored for her outstanding performance in water conservation and human organ donation programs.
Adv. Vandana Dalvi has made valuable contributions in various legal assistance and awareness programs. API Archana Hande Kate was felicitated for her work in the COVID-19 situation and her work for the poor and needy, particularly women. Pooja Raundale was honored for her invaluable contribution in higher educational activities.
Adv. Sapna Deshmukh was awarded for her work in providing free legal aid and legal counseling to needy people, particularly women. Dhanashree Mhaske Kale was recognized for her work in the ‘good touch bad touch’ awareness program for kids and for her work for the welfare of poor and needy women. Chhayatai Indulkar was felicitated for her social work.
Adv. Jyoti Nirgude was awarded for her outstanding work in alleviating farmers’ woes and also in the legal field.
Swarajya Toran Foundation also organized ‘Kaaydyaache Bol’ (Legal Talks) program on Swarajya news channel for legal awareness of basic laws to the common citizens, by arranging live sessions of expert lawyers from various courts of the State. ‘STF has arranged 20 such sessions till date that was viewed by over 10 lakh people’ informed Dr. Kanchan.
