Turbhe, Navi Mumbai: Ramchandra Gharat, BJP chief of Navi Mumbai along with Dr. Suresh Haware, former chairman of the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Management Trust, Shirdi led the ‘Ghantanad Protest’ against the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra to demand the opening of temples in the State. The protest in Navi Mumbai was launched from outside the Sri Ramtanu Mata temple, here on August 29.

Dr. Haware questioned the wisdom in keeping the places of worship closed while lifting the ban on the sale of alcohol in the State. Party workers carried placards denouncing the policy of ‘bail for criminals and jail for devotees.’

In Panvel, Prashant Thakur, legislator and BJP president of North Raigad district, called upon all party workers across the region to gather in front of temples nearest to their respective homes and participate in the State-wide sacred stir by striking the bell (Ghantanad) at 11 a.m and maintaining proper social distance.

Former member of parliament Dr. Sanjeev Naik, former legislator Sandeep Naik, former mayor Sagar Naik, former corporator Vaishali Naik along with party workers and devotees participated in the agitation outside a temple in Koparkhairne.
