Kharghar: This year the theme for the Janmashtami Utsav at the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji (ISKCON) temple, here from August 22 to 25 is ‘Connecting People to the Spiritual Science of God’.Janmashtami, the appearance day of Lord Krishna, will be celebrated in the temple from 4.30 p. m. to midnight on August 24. The 123rd Vyasa Puja celebration of the Founder Acharya Srila Prabhupada of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness will be celebrated on August 25, with programs in the temple in the morning and the Abhishek in the pandal in the evening. The Bhakti Kala Kshetra, the cultural wing of ISKCON, has organized a 4-days cultural program, featuring celebrity artists as well as local singers. This year the tribal students will be performing Harikirtan ‘Amche Krishna’. Bhajan Sandhya will be presented by Smt. Sarita Joshi, Smt. Dr. Kakoly Borthakur, Shri Upendra Bhatt, Shri Omprakash Shrivastava and Shri Vinod Trivedi. Kalasadan of Nerul will present dance performances.

This year the main attraction is the Bal Utsav, in which students from schools in Navi Mumbai and especially Kharghar will present a cultural program based on the theme of Krishna Baal Leela. The Kalash Abhishek of the Lord will be held from 8 p.m. on August 24, wherein Kalash donors can bathe the Lord in panchamrit from a silver Kalash. Devotees can register for this particular Seva in advance. The Maha Abhishek of Lord Krishna will be at midnight on the same day.

The celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna in the ISKCON temple is celestial and filled with devotional fervour.

The 123rd birth anniversary of Acharya Srila Prabhupada will be commemorated with programs from 10 a.m. on August 25, Pushpa Abhishek and arti to the founder Acharya at 12.30 noon followed by special offering of bhog of 2100 items and from 6 p.m. onwards congregation devotees, life members and donors will bathe Srila Prabhupada with milk, honey and Gangajal in special Kalash made of meena and brass. The Radha Madanmohanji Mahotsav started from August 11 with the Jhulan Utsav, a 5-days festival of swinging the deities of Lord Krishna and Radharani on a beautifully adorned swing. Lord Balaram jayanti was celebrated on August 15 with Abhishek of the deities of Lord Krishna and Balaram.

Bhaktiras Shravan Festival organized from August 15 to 24 is a festival for hearing the transcendental topics from Lord Krishna’s pastimes.

The temple president and trustee Sur Das has appealed, to one and all, to strengthen the association with this temple in Seva Bhav and be a part of this Glory of Maharashtra project and experience the spiritual bliss of doing the ultimate service of constructing a magnificent temple for the Supreme Lord.

The 8 1/2 acres temple complex in sector 23, Kharghar, with a construction of 2 1/2 lakhs sq. ft. is purported to be a Vedic, Educational and Cultural Center where the deities of Sri Radha Madanmohanji, Sri Sitaram, Sri Laxman, Hanuman, Sri Gaur Nitai, Sri Vitthal Rukmini, Sri Narsimha Dev, Bhakta Prahlad and 10 Avatars of the Lord will be installed .

Facilities like seminar halls, auditorium, multi-media theater, guest house, vanaprastha ashram, ayurvedic centre, Bhaktivedanta Bal Kunj, Bhaktivedanta College for Vedic Education, Thematic park of Bhakta Vatsala Bhagavan, museum, gardens, glory of the popular saints of Maharashtra and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will constitute this mega spiritual project that will serve humanity for generations, stating so Sur Das has appealed for support and to avail the opportunity and privilege of creating this iconic facility as a service to mankind.
