National Unity Day (or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) is the birth commemoration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a popular identity for uniting India. This day was chosen and presented by the Central Government of India in New Delhi in 2014 to observe birth commemoration of Patel each year as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. It pointed to pay tribute to him for his great endeavours made to unite India.
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi visited the “Statue of Unity” at Kevadia today in Gujarat on the event of Sardar Patel Jayanti and National Unity Day. Statue of Unity is world celebrated, 182 mtr tall statue of Sardar Patel. It is the highest and the most noteworthy statue within the world. He paid floral tributes at the statue of Sardar Patel and hailing off a program known as ‘Run For Unity’ in New Delhi. This year’s theme of National Unity Day was to bring the Country Together, Joined together in Times of Conflict and Rising Extremism.
PM Narendra Modi has also tweeted on twitter saying:

Since 2014, October 31 is watched as National Unity Day and individuals from all strolls of life take part within the Run For Unity over the nation. The tradition follows this year too. The ‘Run for Unity’, which started from the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, saw the support of a huge number of individuals, counting sports enthusiasts and personnel of central police forces among others.

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath moreover hailed off the “Run for Unity” to check the event. Director of Information Shishir said that the run would begin from the statue of Patel located near Hazratganj GPO and will come full circle at KD Singh Babu Stadium.
Home Minister of India, Sri Amit Shah had inquired all the states and Union Territories to celebrate National Unity Day and the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel with incredible eagerness and fervour. He also said that the abrogation of Article 370 from the state of Jammu and Kashmir was a tribute to the vision of Patel and thus this calls for an awesome celebration.
The event at the Statue of Liberty is attended by Speaker of Lok Sabha, Sri Om Birla as the Chief Guest and various other central ministers. It is also be attended by the World Bank President David Malpass and probationers if IAS (Indian Administrative Services), IPS (Indian Police Services), IRS (Indian Revenue Services) and IFS (Indian Foreign Services) as well as other senior officials of the Government of India. A National Unity Day parade is also organized at Kevadiya on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti.
Senior cabinet leaders and ministers of opposition paid their due regard to Sardar Patel and remembered his remarkable authoritative skills which laid the establishment of the administrative system of present India.
‘Run for Unity’ is a symbol of unison and shows that the country is moving in one direction and collectively aims for “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”, PM Modi had said.
