Mumbai: Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra revealed a teaser video of her upcoming sports biopic ‘Saina’, which is set to release on March 26. ‘Sainaa’ is a biopic of India’s star badminton player Saina Nehwal.

‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ actor, who has trained extensively for her role in the film, took to her Instagram handle to share a teaser of the movie. She captioned the post as, “SAINA! 26th March in cinemas.” In the 30-second teaser, we witness the journey of the national sports icon from a young enthusiast to a professional. She says “I do not care who my opponent is, I will simply go for the kill”. At the end of the teaser, a brief glimpse of Parineeti as Saina Nehwal can be seen.

Earlier, the 32-year-old actor had dropped the first look poster of the film, which also featured the release date of the biopic. It showcased a clear blue sky and a hand with a tri-colour wrist-band, that is open in the air to catch a shuttlecock. 

The Saina teaser opens with Parineeti, talking about how half of the Indian population omprise of females who get married at the age of 18 with nothing left to their life story. She, however, adds, “Lekin mere saath aisa nahi hua, karchi-tawe ke badle mein pakdi maine talwar. Following visuals show how her parents and coach encouraged her and worked hard with her to make her the first Indian badminton player to win an Olympic medal, five medals in Commonwealth Games and become the No. 1 Indian woman badminton player.

Saina brings to screen the life of stellar badminton player, Saina Nehwal. The film, which is being backed by T-Series, is slated to release in cinemas on March 26. In 2019, Shraddha Kapoor was signed to play the lead role in the biopic. She had even started shooting for the film. However, the actress quit the project as she had several other projects in the line-up.

Written and directed by Amol Gupte, ‘Saina’ is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sujay Jayraj and Rajesh Shah. It brings on the big screen the journey of one of India’s greatest athletes, Saina Nehwal.
