Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik appointed Subas Chauhan leader of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) as chairman of Western Odisha Development Council (WODC).
The WODC is an administrative set-up, which was established by the state government in 1998 to carry out development in 10 districts of Odisha
After denying Lok Sabha ticket by the BJP, Chauhan agreed to join the ruling BJD in March this year. Several aspirants for the post have been disappointed with the appointment of Chauhan. Earlier Chauhan was one of its national spokespersons. He was also the BJD General Secretary and co-observer for Bargarh, Sambalpur, Kalahandi and Bolangir districts during Lok Sabha elections.
