The number of tickets booked using the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile app in Navi Mumbai than Mumbai is comparatively higher,
“On the mobile app Higher percentage of tickets are purchased on the Harbour and Trans-Harbour Lines at several main stations like Ghansoli, Airoli, Koparkhairne, Bamandongri , Kharghar and Vashi. These station have booking percentage of 20.38%, 19.25%, 16.40%, 14.25%, 14.22% and 13.90% respectively.” Central Railway (CR) officials said.
For instance on Monday out of the 11,219 tickets sold at Ghansoli , 2,286 were bought through the UTS app. In CR’s Mumbai Division numbers of tickets booked using the UTS app stood at 6.98%.
“The commuters in Navi Mumbai seem to be more mobile-savvy as bookings on the mobile app make up a larger chunk as compared to number of tickets sold at stations in Navi Mumbai. Often, it accounts for 10% or more of the total tickets sold.” senior CR official said.
“The automatic ticket vending machines at Navi Mumbai stations is better planned as compared to Mumbai”, He further added.
On the Central Line Thane has highest number of tickets (10%) bought using the app .
“Nearly all stations on the Central Line have higher absolute numbers, the total contribution from app-based ticketing is generally between 4% to 8%.” a CR official said,
Only 3,107 tickets that sums upto 5.27% were booked in Kurla on Monday using the app. A similar number was noticed at other main stations like Dadar (7.12%), Mulund (5.29%) and Ghatkopar (9.27%).
