Belapur: Considering the increasing number of COVID infected persons and to provide them quick and efficient treatment, CIDCO will develop a Dedicated COVID Health Centre in Kalamboli having 800 beds( 690 Oxygenated and 110 ICU) and at Kanjurmarg having 2000 beds(1400 oxygenated, 400 no oxygenated and 200 ICU) beds, following the instructions from the state government.
The number of patients are continuously increasing due to outbreak of COVID 19 pandemic. In this situation, Panvel Municipal Corporation and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation appealed to the state government with the purpose of development of additional Dedicated COVID health centers by CIDCO in their respective regions. Accordingly, in view of increasing number of COVID patients in 2nd wave and to provide them quick and efficient treatment, the government has instructed CIDCO to develop a dedicated COVID hospital in Navi Mumbai’s Kalamboli and Mumbai’s Kanjurmarg.
Thus, CIDCO will develop a well-equipped Dedicated COVID health centers consisting 800 beds at The Cotton Corporation of India Ltd (Warehouse) in Kalamboli and at Kanjurmarg. The preliminary work for the same has been already initiated. The hospital at Kalamboli will be transferred to Panvel Municipal Corporation once it is completely developed.
The hospital in Kalamboli will comprise noninvasive ventilation (oxygen) facility. 70% beds in Kanjurmarg will be oxygenated while the remaining 200 beds are reserved for intensive care unit. The hospitals will be developed in accordance with Administrative and Financial procedure under emergency procurement procedure mentioned in State Government Resolution dated 1.12.2016 and Procurement of Goods manual, Government of India for handling procurement in urgencies/emergencies and Disaster Management.
The concerned Municipal Corporations will be responsible for infrastructural facilities along with power and water supply, appointment of doctors as well as other medical professionals, obtaining the required certificates, general security and provisions for fire safety, beds, supply of medicines and other equipment, etc.
Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, VC&MD, CIDCO said, “CIDCO will soon develop a Dedicated COVID Health Centre in Kalamboli and Kanjurmarg under the guidance of the state government, by taking into consideration the rising numbers of infections in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. CIDCO is doing its best to assist the state administration in the fight against the pandemic and will continue the same in future. Both these Dedicated COVID health centers once constructed, will be handed over to respective municipal corporations for future operations.”
