Mumbai: Under the Covid-19 Preventive Vaccination National Campaign, private hospitals have been allowed paid vaccinations to enable more citizens to be vaccinated. For this, the central government has fixed the maximum rates of covid vaccines keeping in view the production rates fixed by the vaccine manufacturers and the taxes imposed on them. The National Covid-19 Vaccination Program is being implemented in phases from January 16, 2021 in the BMC area. Vaccination centers have been started in government as well as municipal hospitals and private hospitals in Mumbai. Vaccination is being provided free of cost in government as well as municipal centers while paid vaccination is being provided in private hospitals.

According to the open policy of the central government, private vaccination centers can vaccinate citizens for a fee by purchasing vaccines from vaccine manufacturers. In this regard, on June 8, 2021, the Central Government has fixed the rates to be charged by the private vaccination centers from the beneficiaries. In this connection, the rate paid by the vaccine manufacturer as well as 5 per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) and a maximum service charge of Rs 150 can be collected from the beneficiaries by the private

Accordingly, the vaccine rates are as follows. (Order, name of vaccine, rate declared by vaccine manufacturer, 5% GST, maximum service charge and maximum fixed rate)

  2. Covaxin: 1200 60 150 = Rs. 1,410
  3. Sputnik-V: 948 47 150 = Rs. 1,145

Citizens will be notified from time to time if there is a change in the rates fixed by the government. Therefore, the private vaccination centers are informed that the vaccination fee should be charged from the beneficiaries as per the rates mentioned above. It should be noted that strict legal action will be taken if unreasonable charges are levied.

Citizens, housing complex officials as well as heads of industrial establishments should take note of the fixed rate of the vaccine. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation administration is appealing to lodge a complaint regarding exorbitant tariffs at
