The mayor of Navi Mumbai Jaywant Sutar inaugurating the multi-facility Central Park in sector 3, Ghansoli node of Navi Mumbai on March 12, without much fanfare, due to the coronavirus threat looming worldwide.
Developed on 39135.71 sq. m. of land, with the theme of the five elements, air, earth, fire, water and sky, the Central Park has a grand gateway that houses a viewing gallery, a semi-Olympic size swimming pool, skating rink, football and cricket ground, two children’s play area with rubber matting, jogging and cycle tracks, activity area, amphitheater, party lawn, parking area and other games facilities with a lot of green cover.
This civic facility has been awarded the EPC World Award for the best social amenity facility by a local self government body in the country.
The deputy mayor of Navi Mumbai Mandakini Mhatre, chairman of the garden and city beautification committee Shashikala Sutar, corporators Suvarna Patil, Prashant Patil, Kamaltai Patil, Usha Patil, Neelam Jagtap, executive engineer Anil Nerpagar, ward officer Subhod Thanekar and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
