Uran: The Gram Sudharna Mandal, Hanuman Koliwada, here has decided to block the JNPT channel indefinitely with their traditional fishing boats from January 21, informed Ramesh Koli, the president of the JNPT Sangharsh Samiti that has been protesting for the rights of the 256 families (86 agricultural and 17 non-agricultural) in Sheva (Hanuman) Koliwada.

Koli informs that 17 hectares of developed land in JNPT was sanctioned in 1985 for the project affected families of Hanuman Koliwada as per government norms for their rehabilitation. Hence after 35 years of denial and protests the PAPs have decided to block vessels from entering and leaving JNPT with their boats.

Several fisher-folk organizations in the State too have pledged support to the Hanuman Koliwada PAPs and are expected to participate in the blockade informed Parmanand Koli, leader of the village.
