Mumbai: The e-inauguration of the Virtual India Pavilion today at the hands of Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar marked the beginning of Indian participation in the Cannes Film Festival- 2020.The festival is being held from 22 to 26 June 2020.

Addressing the film community and film aficionados around the world, the Union Minister said that now virtual openings will be a new common thing and this virtual space will now emerge as a new place for real partners.

 Film is India’s soft power and the Office of Film Facilities will be made a window hub for all kinds of permissions from the Central and State Governments. He appealed to the international community to come to India to shoot and distribute these films in the global market. India ears will receive praise from the film sent to the global film festival , expected Javadekar said.

The Indian Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival has always been the center of various events. This is where Indian filmmakers and delegates meet with the international community. The community gets to experience the colors and smells of Indian films and seeks opportunities to work with Indian filmmakers and shoot in incredible India with a variety of features and places.

For the first time, two things have been included in this year’s participation. Both the National Film Award winning films Maighat: Crime No. 103/2005 ( Marathi) and Helaro (Gujarati) are being screened in the Indian Pavilion . Apart from this, the Indian Pavilion will also be displaying some of his films and music and documentaries on the occasion of the birth centenary of great film director Satyajit Ray next year. The website will also have a list of producers interested in establishing relationships with the international media and entertainment industry.

The India Pavilion will be a hub for information about India and Indian films to the global film community , he said. The pavilion will be a pavilion for business meetings and interactions between filmmakers and other media and entertainment industry stakeholders.
