Mumbai: The CM coordinated civic body chiefs to set up gigantic offices with appropriate amenities on a war balance, considering the surge in coronavirus positive cases. With the rising coronavirus cases in municipal corporations limits of Thane area, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday communicated serious concerns and inquired the municipal commissioners not to fight the war against the virus but include more citizens and social organisations. He coordinated to set up large offices on the lines of BMC.

He asked them to take the assistance of BMC, businesses, and different other organisations in this respect. Thackeray inquired the municipal commissioners to set up Corona Dakshata (Vigilance) Committees which can work hand in hand with the members of the public in early detection, tracking of the COVID 19 patients which will be valuable for treating them on time. These committees can play a vital role in creating awareness around the COVID 19, engaging the citizens not to depend on self -medicine but to approach doctors that they are enduring from cough, cold and fever.

The timing of today’s meeting was crucial as Thane, Kalyan Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Navi Mumbai and Panvel have developed as the epicenter of COVID 19 as the cases are rising quickly. He inquired the metropolitan commissioners to step up control measures to check the spread of the virus. The dynamic cases as on date in Thane district are 1,59,662 with 6,918 deaths.

CM advised the BMC to implement ‘Chase the Virus’ with the active involvement of NGOs and supply them with the vital equipment so that the spread of infection is controlled. He too inquired BMC to engage NGOs and citizen organisations to spray the disinfectants by giving them gadgets and disinfectants. This is essential as the BMC cannot depend on the temporary workers to complete the work as they are facing a deficiency of labourers as they have moved to their home states amid the lockdown.

Thackeray moreover held an assembly with the BMC Commissioner Iqbal Chahal led group and inquired him to set up ward-wise units to construct appropriate connect between the citizens and the administration by including NGOs. He hailed BMC’s endeavours to contain coronavirus in populated Dharavi slums in other areas.
