Indian Medical Association is the only representative, national voluntary organisation of Doctors of Modern Scientific System of Medicine, which looks after the interest of doctors as well as the well being of the community at large.
IMA (Indian Medical Association) looks after the members also by arranging many CME activities to keep them up-to-date in various fields of advancement in Medicine. IMA has established various wings for academic purpose. Also IMA has established its Accreditation policy for standardization of hospitals, clinics and various academic programs. This helps our doctors remain in continuous progress. Their objectives are to promote and advance medical and allied sciences in all their different branches and to promote the improvement of public health and medical education in India,To maintain the honor and dignity and to uphold the interest of the medical profession and to promote co-operation amongst the members thereof, To work for the abolition of compartmentalization in medical education, medical services and registration in the country and this to achieve equality among all members of the profession. I.M.A. is a well-established organisation with its Headquarters at Delhi and State / Terr. Branches in 29 States and Union Territories. It has over 3, 15,000 doctors as its members through more than 1750 active local branches spread all over the country.
IMA(Indian Medical Association) hosted the III World Conference on Medical Education under the joint auspices of W.M.A. and I.M.A. in New Delhi in 1966.Projects by IMA (Indian Medical Association)are IMA Stop Sex Selection (Save the Girl Child – Theme Let the Girl be Born), IMA Anaemia Free India, Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative, Training of Medical Officers on issues related to trafficking of Children, Accessibility and Affordability of Quality Health Services in India, IMA Pharmaco Vigilance Education Programme, IMA Safe Injections Practices, Aao Gaon Chalen, IMA- GFATM-RNTCP-PPM,CME on Pain Management, Infant Mortality Rate and IMA Childhood Diarrhea, IMA – QCI Survey of Health Care Centre, IMA Blood Donation Initiative, IMA END TB INITIATIVE (IMA joined hands with Govt of India now for the program to control the menace of Tuberculosis),IMA HYPERTENSION INITIATIVE(Hypertension screening for more than ten lakhs people across the country, Hypertension registry, Peripheral CME jointly, in rural areas educating doctors also creating awareness in the public, Adult vaccine awareness.IMA also published a book name “LIFECOURSE VACCINATION GUIDELINE BOOK” for the doctors.
