Mumbai: The Energy Department has constituted a high power committee to frame solar energy policy for the state headed by the Principle Energy Secretary.
In this regard yesterday the State Energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut directed the Energy Department to constitute the high power committee to frame the comprehensive solar power policy for implementation of solar power projects with an aim to reduce it’s dependency on thermal power and to clear the projects by Single Window system for its timely completion.
The object of this policy is to get more clean energy for the state with an aim to protect the nature and the earth from global warming. A separate company would be established for providing land for the solar power projects for which it will create Land Bank. The structure and functions of the said company would be soon chalked out.
The committee would study solar power projects in Karnatak, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat for the better implementation of the projects. The Chairmen and Managing Directors of Mahavitaran, Mahapareshan and Mahanirmiti and the Director General of MEDA are the members of the high power committee while deputy secretary/ joint secretary from Energy Department is the member secretary.
