MUMBAI: Consumers are dissatisfied with the total consumption bill in June. The power supply will not be cut off even after three weeks to provide relief to the customers who are already in financial straits during the lockdown period, said Nitin Raut.

At a meeting with Shiv Sena MLAs, convened under the chairmanship of Cabinet Minister Anil Parab at the ministry today to resolve doubts over the increased bills issued in June after the lockdown period. In order to resolve the issue of the electricity bill of the general consumers should leave the Corona restricted area and appoint officers of the companies in that department and resolve their grievances by checking the electricity bill there, Nitin Raut gave orders to officials of BEST, Tata, MSEDCL and Adani.

He also requested the consumers to provide information on how the electricity bill was paid. Nitin Raut approached the officials of all the power supply companies. He also discussed with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar whether financial assistance will be provided for the total electricity bill. Actual readings were started when the lockdown was relaxed. 2-3% of consumers in the state sent photos of their meter readings.

In order to redress the grievances of the consumers, zone wise WhatsApp group, help desk, consumer fairs have been started at the market place. Principal Secretary in charge of Energy Department Dinesh Waghmare, Director (Operations) Dinesh Chandra Sabu, Managing Director of Mahanirmiti A. Shaila, BEST General Manager Surendra Kumar Bagde, Tata Power Company (Distribution) Vice President Sunil Joglekar, Adani Power Company Vice President K. Patel and Shiv Sena MLAs were present.
