Sanpada: Former member of parliament and the first mayor of Navi Mumbai Dr. Sanjeev Naik lauded the social initiatives of former member of ‘D’ ward committee of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. He was addressing the volunteers at the Sunildada Kurkute public relations office in the Shivtriveni complex in sector 7 here on November 8 for the distribution of the essential edible oil and sugar at a concessional price to the citizens.

Nearly 2 tons of sugar at the rate of Rs. 30 per kg and 2.25 tons of cooking oil @ Rs.90 per kg were availed by the citizens, as a special initiative by Sunil Ramdas Kurkute for the Deepavali festival on behalf of the BJP ward no.79 here.

Stating that soon after the lockdown was imposed in March 2020 to contain the spread of the corona-virus, legislator Ganesh Naik called upon all party workers to put aside politics and render all required assistance to needy citizens in this hour of need, many leaders and party workers served the Navi Mumbai community by distributing free meals, food-grains, grocery, medicines, masks and sanitizers, getting people tested and admitted to COVID care centers, arranging transport for the stranded. He lauded Sunil Kurkute for always rising to the occasion and leading all these initiatives in the ward as a true COVID warrior.

Stating that the threat of the pandemic being far from over, Dr. Sanjeev Naik cautioned to continue observing the norms laid down by the health department of the State and the corporation, particularly about wearing of masks and adhering to social distancing apart from using sanitizers regularly.
