Vashi: Dayavati Shewale, BJP corporator of ward no. 63 in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, comprising sectors 1, 2 and 17, and Sampat Shewale, former Standing Committee chairman in NMMC, distributed one free hand sanitizer bottle of 100 ml. and a pamphlet on Corona Care to every house in the constituency.
The gesture was well appreciated by many residents, though opposition members opined that it was political opportunism on the eve of the forthcoming municipal general body elections in June/July 2020 and also promotion of a company’s product that is very highly priced at Rs. 245 for 100 ml. only.
Residents could be inclined to buy the product after using it once, particularly in the wake of the global coronavirus scare and hence the Shewales have served the manufacturers in their sampling exercise for the timely marketing of the same, stated a resident in sector 17.
The same resident admitted that the Shewales have been looking after the constituency quite well, particularly in spreading awareness about civic issues and maintaining civic amenities in the ward.
