In this coronavirus flare-up, Western Railways cancelled Mumbai Suburban train services till March 31. Beginning this evening, Mumbai nearby trains will not run till the month-end. Western Railways declared “Kindly note that Mumbai Suburban services of Western Railway will not be run from 24.00 hrs of 23/03/2020 i.e. from the midnight of 22/03/2020 till the midnight of 31/03/2020,”

A Government press release said seventy districts that have reported confirmed coronavirus cases will run as it was fundamental public services till that date. The new measures were reported as millions within the nation put themselves under a 14-hour voluntary curfew as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s offer to add tremendous strength to the battle against the infection.

The Central Railway today cancelled 60 long-distance trains over Mumbai division, whereas the Western Railway cancelled 40 mail express and 26 passenger trains from Mumbai. 477 rural local trains are also cancelled on Sunday.

Section 144 of CrPC to be imposed in all the urban areas of Maharashtra

Maharashtra Government today has chosen to force prohibitory measures in the state. Section 144 of CrPC will be forced in all urban zones of Maharashtra, said Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. The worker strength at the Government workplaces will be diminished to 5% from the present 25%, Thackeray added.

As the number of coronavirus cases surges to 73 within the state, the Maharashtra Government has chosen to force section 144 of CrPC in all urban ranges from March 31. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said, “I would like to request everyone to continue Janata Curfew till tomorrow morning.”

Thackeray said, “Number of cases has increased considerably. I have no option left but to apply Section 144 in Maharashtra.”  Intercity bus services will stay suspended in Maharashtra till March 31. The BEST buses will utilize on the streets for people involved in essential services. Only individuals discharging essential duties will be permitted to use public transport till March 31, Maharashtra Chief Minister said.
