Mumbai: ‘Uddhav Thackeray, the chief minister of Maharashtra will soon address the basic needs and development issues of Navi Mumbaikars raised at a review meeting on December 24 convened on the request of the member of parliament Rajan Vichare. Urban development and public works minister of Maharashtra and Thane district’s guardian minister Eknath Shinde, vice chairman and managing director of CIDCO Ltd. Sanjay Mukherjee, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner Abhijit Bangar, MMRDA commissioner R. A. Rajeev, principal secretary of the CM Vikas Kharge, advisor Ajoy Mehta, additional chief secretary Ashish Kumar Singh and all administrative officials were present at the meeting.

The issues raised included, the basic needs and lawful rights of the citizens of Navi Mumbai, the pending issues of the sons-of-the-soil pending with CIDCO, Slum Improvement Committee for rehabilitation and development of the city, regularization of houses built by the villagers out of natural growth and need, basic amenities in MIDC, freehold property rights, redevelopment of dilapidated buildings, construction of a world class stadium in the land reserved by NMMC for the sports complex in Ghansoli, construction of a flyover from Arenja Corner in Vashi to Pawane Thane-Belapur road, considering the possible traffic congestion in the city, due to the new international airport in the offing, construction of a coastal road from Airoli to Vashi and Vashi to Ulwe and starting alternate water transport, construction of a bridge on the creek for the incomplete Ghansoli-Airoli Palm Beach road, commence work on the development of the coastal and marine bio-diversity centre in Airoli for which funds have been sanctioned, construction of a subway or flyover on Thane-Belapur road linking Turbhe depot to sector 20, sanctioning a ropeway for the development of the forest tourism region of Gavlidev-Sulaidevi in Ghansoli, organising a meeting to rehabilitate slums on the new Kalwa-Airoli railway line and provide the affected slum dwellers their rightful home, instruct CIDCO to erect elevatorsor lifts for senior citizens and provide basic facilities in all railway stations constructed by CIDCO in the city over 30 years ago and such other issues of the citizens in the city.
