Kharghar: The chief minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated the (Maharashtra Tourism Complex) Youth Hostel here on September 27 built by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. He also inaugurated a boat club and grape park resort in Nasik. He also launched a data bank – ‘Maharashtra Tourism: Something for Everyone’ that contains information about tourism sites, pilgrim centers, agriculture tourism, UNESCO world heritage sites, airports, hotels, restaurants, resorts and more in the State.
The Youth Hostel here will be an ideal venue for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) tourism/events in the Navi Mumbai-Panvel region. The project will have a restaurant with kitchen (60 capacity), souvenir shop, fitness center, dormitory, indoor game room, 27 suites and open-air cafetaria service.
Addressing at the tourism e-function from his official residence, Varsha, the CM expressed that it was not just enough to develop tourism sites but related infrastructure too should be developed. The State will strive to be the top tourist destination in the country.
State tourism and environment minister Aditya Thackeray informed that plans are afoot to boost agricultural tourism in the State. Stating that the Taj group was building a tourism center in the Konkan region, Aditya informed that Chipi airport in Sindhudurg and two 5-star hotels will come up soon and the beach shack policy approved by the government will attract more tourists. He further added that the State’s caravan tourism and adventure tourism policy are being processed, as also efforts are on by the tourism department to tie up with the forest department and water resources department for eco-tourism, bird observation, trekking, cycling, etc.
State food and civil supplies minister, Chhagan Bhujbal expressed that tourist footfalls would increase with the boat club and grape park resort in Nasik, which is also one of the main pilgrim centers of the country.
