Bhai Dooj is celebrated all over India with awesome intensity and eagerness. Diwali, the celebration of lights, comes full circle with Bhai Dooj which commemorates the bond between brothers and sisters. On Bhai Dooj, sisters apply tilak or tika of vermilion on the foreheads of their brothers and supplicate for their thriving. This year Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on October 29 and the favourable time or Muhurat for Bhai Dooj tilak is 1:31 pm to 3:49 pm. Bhaidooj Dwitiya Tithi starts from 6:13 am which will be observed till 3:47am on October 30. Sisters too keep fast for the day and prepare delicacies for their brothers and eat after feeding their brothers. The brothers in return grant endowments to their sisters with a promise to protect them. The celebration is celebrated two days after Diwali.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s declaration comes months ahead of the Delhi assembly elections. Attesting his government’s commitment to boost women security within Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that the number of marshals conveyed for Delhi buses will rise till 13,000 on October 29.
The declaration by Kejriwal at an event comes a day ahead of the roll-out of the AAP government’s scheme to create free of cost travel for women in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses. In a gathering of newly-recruited transport marshals at the Tyagraj Stadium he said that he is taking responsibility to guarantee the security of women in each government transport and produce certainty in them so that they feel the comfort of a home in buses.
Kejriwal said that there are 3,400 transport marshals in Delhi. He added that being a promising day of Bhai Dooj, the number of marshals for our buses will increase to about 13,000.
The Chief Minister also said that Delhi is like one enormous family and he being the senior child of this family, he’ll be bearing the cost of commuting in DTC buses, of our sisters, daughters and mothers.
