Belapur: Three more well-equipped ambulances from the contribution of Rs. 50 lakhs from legislator Manda Mhatre’s MLA Fund under the local development program 2020-21 were dedicated to the citizens of Navi Mumbai in the presence of Abhijit Bangar, the municipal commissioner of Navi Mumbai and legislator Mandatai Mhatre on July 20 at the NMMC headquarters, here. Prior to this, 3 ambulances have already been received by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation for the corporation’s hospitals from Mandatai’s MLA fund.
These 3 ambulances, totally costing Rs.48,44,000/-, that include one basic life support ultra-modern ambulance and two patient transport ambulances equipped with all emergency facilities, will be available for patients at the corporation’s public hospital in Nerul, Mother Child Hospital in Belapur and the public hospital in Vashi.
Speaking on the occasion, Manda Mhatre stated that in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing number of patients, she felt it was her duty to address the growing demand for ambulances and ventilators in the city, to safeguard the health of the city residents and to provide adequate health services in the city. She further informed that she has allocated Rs. 50 lakhs for the purchase of ventilators too, which will be handed over to NMMC soon. She alleged that some private ambulance operators were taking advantage of the present crisis and fleecing the patients.
The civic chief, Abhijit Bangar, expressed gratitude to Manda Mhatre for her co-operation in this battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that these ambulances equipped with oxygen and monitoring facilities were one of the key required facilities in the present crisis and expressed hope that these would be very useful in the management of the COVID threat.
Ramchandra Gharat, the Navi Mumbai BJP district president, Sampat Shewale, former NMMC Standing Committee chairman, Vijay Ghate, Navi Mumbai district BJP general secretary, Dr. Jayaji Nath, former NMMC Standing Committee chairman, Sunil Patil, Deepak Pawar, Ashok Gurkhe and Bharat Jadhav, former corporators, Datta Ghangale and Raju Tikone, BJP youth leaders, Sujata Dhole and Sanjay Kakade, additional municipal commissioners, Dadasaheb Chabukswar and Nitin Kale, deputy municipal commissioners, Dr. Sonawane, health officer and other officers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
